Downtown Partnership: Getting Things Done

New Changes to Center Plaza and the Downtown Dog Walk
If you’ve stopped by Center Plaza lately, you’ll have
noticed that the area is more active than ever before. From
free concerts and jazz performances to fitness classes,
nearby residents and employees are stopping by to attend
free events organized by Downtown Partnership throughout the
summer.
Thanks to funding provided by the three primary property
owners surrounding Center Plaza: BGE, The Law Offices of
Peter G. Angelos, and Southern Management Corporation, and
the hard work of The Partnership’s Green Team, the area is
also on its way to looking even better.
Since May, workers have been replacing the crushed granite
in the plaza’s pathways with concrete pavers. These pavers
provide a more suitable surface for the heavily traversed
area. Even better, the removed crushed granite will not go
to waste. Instead, it will be used in Downtown’s nearby Dog
Walk.
More and more people are choosing to live Downtown (the
apartment occupancy rate is booming at 96%) and they’re
bringing their dogs with them. That’s why we’ve partnered
with The City to create an even better Downtown Dog Walk.
We’re replacing the original dog park grass with decomposed
granite. The new surface is more sanitary and it eliminates
water runoff issues. It’s also cleaner and easier to dust
off after play. Other upgrades to the Downtown Dog Walk
include replacement of dead and dying trees, additional
landscape improvements, and a drinking feature for the dogs.
The Dog Walk, which opened in the fall of 2009, is located
near First Mariner Arena and bounded by Liberty Street,
Baltimore Street, Park Avenue, and Fayette Street. The
improvements will be completed early this month. For more

plazas. This year's plants include Dragon Wing Begonias,
