Downtown Partnership: Getting Things Done

Superfresh Update

As many people already know, the Superfresh store at Charles and Saratoga streets is scheduled to close soon. Its bankrupt parent company, the Great Atlantic & Pacific Tea Co. Inc. recently held an auction for 25 of its Maryland stores and the Downtown location received a successful bid from a joint venture between Village Supermarkets and Mrs. Green’s Management Corporation which operates Mrs. Green’s, an organic grocery chain.

There’s no word on when the auction sale will be finalized or when a new store could open in the Charles Street space, but it is clear that a new grocery store will open in the current Superfresh location. We’ll keep you posted as new information becomes available.
