New Circulator a Success!

The newly-launched Charm City Circulator has attracted more riders than expected in its first two weeks. It is also drawing rave reviews from people who have used this free, environmentally-friendly service.

City transportation officials were expecting fewer than 1,000 riders a day, but ridership exceeded 1,200 per day for a total of approximately 15,000 riders. Officials are also pleased that the service is meeting its goal of arriving at stops every ten minutes.

Downtown Partnership's Hospitality Guides have met with many of the bus drivers to provide them with information about Downtown. They also provide a friendly face to riders, hopping on every now and again throughout the day.

So far, the east/west Orange route is running, taking passengers from the Hollins Market area on the west to Harbor East on the east. Two other routes, including a north/south route from Cross Street to Penn Station, will begin later in the spring. For complete information about the new service and its routes, visit www.charmcitycirculator.com.

Downtown Partnership Supports Rock to Rebuild, a Benefit Concert for Haiti, Thursday, February 11
Purchase your tickets to Rock to Rebuild, a benefit concert for Haiti held Thursday, February 11 at 7:30 p.m. at the Meyerhoff Symphony Hall. The concert, organized by BaltimoreACTS, will feature a line-up of national and international recording artists including several with ties to Baltimore and Haiti. Prominent speakers and original videos will celebrate the contributions to Haiti’s relief effort by locally-based organizations, such as hospital ship USNS Comfort, University of Maryland Shock Trauma, Johns Hopkins, and Catholic Relief Services. Members of the Baltimore Ravens, the new Mayor of Baltimore Stephanie Rawlings-Blake, and Maryland Governor Martin O’Malley are scheduled to attend.

BaltimoreACTS is a campaign to activate Baltimore’s citizens and businesses to serve critical causes. Conceived by passionate leaders from Baltimore's marketing, arts, business, and nonprofit arenas, BaltimoreACTS was inspired by our community’s decisive response in the days following Haiti’s earthquake. The goal of the organization is to sustain that remarkable spirit by creating an ongoing network of volunteerism and service to respond to current and future crises.

Tickets are available for purchase now at the Meyerhoff box office; online tickets will be available for purchase starting tonight, February 2. Proceeds will benefit Partners In Health and Catholic Relief Services. The Baltimore Community Foundation will manage the funds raised. For more information,
