Retail News
Now Open
CapitolMac has opened its
doors at 714 S. Broadway in Fell’s Point. The shop is a
certified Apple specialist and authorized service provider and
sells the Macintosh, iPad, iPod, and Apple TV lines as well as
related software. The Baltimore location is a second outpost of
the original CapitolMac store in Richmond, VA.
Delia Foley’s opened last month at 1439 S. Charles
Street. The two-story Irish-themed bar features sixteen taps, a
rotating variety of beers, and a menu offering classic pub fare.
The Land of Kush is now
open at 840 N. Eutaw Street. This new vegan soul food restaurant
offers flavorful meat-free dishes such as barbeque, candied
yams, sesame spinach, and various curries as well as vegan baked
goods.
O’s Breakfast and Barbeque
has recently opened for business in Cross Street Market at 1065
S. Charles Street. The eatery serves everything from burgers to
French toast to Caribbean jerk chicken and also offers delivery
and catering services.
Recognize Clothing and Apparel is now open at 232 Park
Avenue. The store sells a variety of clothes, accessories, and
fashion items.
Women’s Industrial Exchange
at 333 N. Charles Street is open for business after being closed
for several weeks for electrical updates and cosmetic repairs.
The Exchange serves local craft artists to refine, market, and
sell their handmade goods to supplement their income. The shop
features hand-crafted jewelry, scarves, pottery, note cards,
baby clothes and more.
Coming Soon
Au Bon
Pain is coming soon to the University of Maryland
Medical System (UMMS) Center at 22 S. Greene Street. The
restaurant and café offers a variety of soups, sandwiches and
salads in addition to coffee drinks and baked goods.
FoodLifePoint will be opening soon in the Silo Point
condominium tower at 1200 Steuart Street. The new market and
café will sell coffee, sandwiches, prepared foods and bottles of
wine, and will also feature wireless internet access for
patrons.
Pratt Street Ale House is
taking over the property at 200 – 202 W. Pratt Street next door
to its existing location. The expanded space will allow the bar
to host private parties and special events such as tastings and
beer festivals.
Race Pace Bicycles is coming soon to 1414 Key
Highway. The new Federal Hill shop is the bicycle company’s
sixth location and first in the City. The store is expected to
open in March.
Sirs and Divas Spa is coming to 403 N. Charles Street in
March. The spa will offer a wide range of beauty and personal
care services for men and women, including haircuts, styling,
and facials.
The Sweetest Temptations will be opening this spring at
232 N. Liberty Street. The new bakery and cafe plans to sell
gourmet coffee, cupcakes, and other pastries.

Accounting
Reznick Group, a top
national CPA firm, has significantly expanded the number of
staff members at its Baltimore office located at 500 E. Pratt
Street. The company has hired 19 full-time employees and 18
interns. The interns are part of Reznick’s hands-on tax season
internship program and come from a variety of area colleges and
universities.
Arts and
Humanities
This November, the
Baltimore Symphony Orchestra
will play for a Lyric opera production for the first time in two
decades. Lyric Opera Baltimore, a collaboration with the
symphony, will kick off its inaugural season with performances
of “La Traviata” at the Patricia and Arthur Modell Performing
Arts Center at the Lyric.
Attractions and Museums
The
Maryland Zoo in Baltimore
has selected a new concessionaire. The company, Service Systems
Associates (SSA), will manage all culinary and retail operations
at the attraction including two concession areas, a large retail
store, two smaller shops, and picnic catering. SSA will help to
support the zoo’s efforts to increase sustainable practices and
products.

Development News
City Center
The
Baltimore Farmers’ Market Downtown
will open on April 3 this year, a month earlier than it opened
last year, due to high demand from customers and the growing
popularity of the market. Vendors will offer plants, herbs, and
flowers as well as prepared foods and limited greenhouse-grown
produce at this time. The market is located underneath the Jones
Falls Expressway at Gay and Saratoga Streets.
Peterson Moore LLC has entered into a service agreement with
Business Suites at The Gallery for office space at 111 S.
Calvert Street. The new firm provides legal services for
business, education, non-profit, and government leaders and
organizations.
Preller Glass LLC, a law firm, has leased an additional 430
square feet of office space in the Knickerbocker Building at
218 E. Lexington Street.
Inner Harbor
An
affiliate of The Cordish Company is planning to build a third
outdoor dining and entertainment barge between Inner Harbor
Piers 3 and 4. The barge will be used by the restaurant
Dick’s Last Resort and is scheduled to open this
summer.
Mount Vernon
Jabber
Five Real Estate Group has purchased former
Struever
Bros. housing and retail development Twelve09
North Charles in the 1200 block of N. Charles Street, with
plans to actively market and lease the remaining retail space.
PMC Property Group has purchased the historic apartment
development opportunity on the south side of the block at
1201 N. Charles Street, has already begun construction of 22
residential units and 3,000 square feet of ground level retail
space.
Westside
The
University
of Maryland Medical System has signed a lease for
an additional 46,000 square feet of office space at 250 W.
Pratt Street, bringing their total holdings in the building
to over 57,000 square feet.
Cushman & Wakefield
represented the landlord and
CB Richard Ellis
represented the tenant in this deal. The health system will
relocate more than 100 employees to the new location in the
spring.
Adjacent Neighborhoods
Construction has begun for the new mixed-use development project
at 1111 Light Street in Federal Hill. The project,
located at the site of the former Epstein’s Department Store,
will feature 6,000 square feet of ground floor retail space and
22,000 square feet of office space in addition to 93 luxury
housing units and a parking garage.
Under Armour is purchasing the entire Tide Point waterfront
office complex in Locust Point, which will serve as their
corporate headquarters. The company currently occupies nearly
half of the 400,000 square foot campus, which includes 14
showrooms, lab and meeting spaces, and a basketball court.
Verizon Wireless is planning to install 600 small antennas at
M&T Bank Stadium in an effort to provide better coverage for
fans. The project, which is expected to cost seven figures, will
help to accommodate the increased number of people using
smartphones and improve coverage for all users, regardless of
carrier. Construction is scheduled to begin at the end of
February.
