Downtown Management Authority Updates

Preston
Gardens
The improvements to historic
Preston Gardens took another step forward recently when two
long dormant fountains were re-started after being off for
40 years or more. The fountains are part of the serpentine
wall that separates the upper and lower portions of Preston
Gardens, the green park located in front of Mercy Medical
Center, and their repair is the latest improvement we’ve
made there. Check our website,
GoDowntownBaltimore.com, to
learn about all the work we’re doing in Preston Gardens, and
at parks and plazas throughout Downtown.
Summer Youth Works
Downtown Partnership is once again a job site for the City's
Youth Works program. This year there are 40 kids assigned to
the Partnership with approximately 32-35 reporting daily.
Most work with Clean Sweep Ambassadors cleaning bus stops
and alleys, and pulling weeds. Some are working on
special projects.
In addition to the work
experience, kids working at Downtown Partnership also
participate in sessions with guest speakers from Downtown
businesses such as presentations from banks on financial
literacy and personal stories shared by a local attorney.
The Youth Works participants
are a great asset to Downtown Partnership's operations team
and Downtown Partnership is proud to be able to support
these young men and women in providing them summer jobs and
workforce development opportunities.
