Retail News
Now Open
GoodFellas Bar and Grill has opened for business at 336
N. Charles Street. The restaurant has a large menu featuring
pastas, sandwiches, and classic Italian favorites.
Indigma has reopened in its
new location at 801 N. Charles Street. The restaurant serves
creative Indian cuisine.
Pacific Smoothies is now
open at 902 Eastern Avenue. The shop offers smoothies and other
frozen drinks as well as wraps and breakfast items.
Pink Rose Consignment Boutique is now open at 877 N.
Howard Street. The new store features a wide variety of items on
consignment.
Social Pub and Pie has
opened at 25 E. Cross Street. The upscale pub features
coal-fired pizzas, a wine list, and a large selection of draft
beers.
Topaz Boutique opened
recently at 1611 Eastern Avenue. The boutique carries several
lines of designer shoes for women.
Coming Soon
Baltimore SoundStage will
be taking over at 124 Market Place in September. The music venue
will host concerts and parties and will also have a kitchen to
serve light fare such as sandwiches and crab cakes.
Charm City Burgers is coming soon to 227 E. Baltimore
Street. Menu items will include wraps, burgers, falafel, and
salads.
Cheapside Wharf will open in the coming month at 111
Water Street. This new B.Y.O.B. restaurant and café will be open
for lunch and dinner, Monday through Saturday, and will feature
overstuffed sandwiches, soups and sides, and Maryland-inspired
menu items such as soft shell crab and crab cakes.
Republic Noodle is opening
this summer at 1121 Light Street. The menu at this new B.Y.O.B.
noodle bar and Pan-Asian restaurant will feature items such as
crab egg rolls and soba stir-fry.
Taco Shop is coming to 1114 S. Charles Street. The
Mexican eatery is expected to open next year.
Townhouse Kitchen and Wine Bar
will be opening soon at 777 S. Eden Street. The restaurant will
offer a variety of salads, small plates, entrees, and wines.

and Honors
Carol Macht, Senior
Principal at
hord | coplan | macht, has
been named a Fellow of the American Society of Landscape
Architects. This designation is conferred on individual members
in recognition of exceptional accomplishments and leadership,
knowledge, management, and service to the profession.
Maryland
Institute College of Art has received a $10
million gift from longtime college trustee George L. Bunting Jr.
and his wife, Anne Bunting. This amount is the largest the
college has received from a single donor in its history. The
gift will be used to expand graduate programs and research.
Dining
Sascha’s 527
has added another item, Diva Dogs, to its menu. The gourmet hot
dogs will be offered at lunch only. The creative new dishes
include the Bollywood Dog with curry sauce, coleslaw, chick
peas, chives and onion, the Windy City Chicagoan with mustard,
cucumbers, onions, pickle relish and tomatoes, and the Riviera
Bikini Dog with caper remoulade, coleslaw and bacon.

Development News
City Center
BB&T
will expand their presence in Downtown Baltimore with a recently
inked deal at 111 S. Calvert Street. The executed lease
for 21,300 square feet expands the company’s current lease by
about 7,000 square feet, and will give BB&T naming rights on
General
Growth Properties’ Harborplace Tower. With the
increased space, BB&T plans to move an additional 30 employees
to Downtown Baltimore.
Maisy’s, located at 313 N. Charles Street,
will undergo interior renovations this fall. The owner of the
restaurant, Matt Helme, plans to add lighting fixtures to the
main dining room and update the downstairs lounge area with
custom-built furniture.
Inner Harbor
Construction of the 9/11 Memorial has begun in front of the
Baltimore World Trade Center at 401 E. Pratt Street.
Contractors have started the installation of the statue’s marble
base. The memorial, which will feature three steel columns
salvaged from the Twin Towers, is expected to be completed by
September. The architect for the project is
Ziger/Snead,
LLP Architects.
The Newton Group, Inc., a strategic products and services firm,
has signed a lease for 1,051 SF of office space at 729 E.
Pratt Street.
Westside
Demolition of 890 Linden Avenue began last month as part
of a project designed to boost development in the area. The
streetscape project will widen Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard
and improve the intersection with Howard Street, allowing for
better pedestrian and vehicle access to
Maryland General Hospital.
Adjacent
Neighborhoods
A new coworking space called Capital Studios opened this month
on the second floor of The Holland Tack Factory at 1300 Bank
Street. The location offers a collaborative work environment
for independent workers like software engineers, real estate
brokers, small start-ups, writers, and consultants. Access to
the space and its amenities, like desks, wireless internet, and
conference spaces, is available for daily and monthly membership
fees.
